The Person Behind Every Inspection
I started Lakeshore Air Testing because I believe Michigan families deserve honest answers about the air in their homes — from someone with no stake in what those answers are.
Mike was born and raised in California and made the move to Michigan 27 years ago — where he raised his family and built a life he never plans to leave. His air quality journey began when he became seriously ill from an airborne pathogen. That experience — navigating uncertainty, waiting for answers, not knowing whether his own home was safe — is the reason Lakeshore Air Testing exists.
Mike has lived in the same Southwest Michigan community since the day he arrived. He’s been an active member of the local fire department and has helped start food programs for at-risk kids in the area. This isn’t just where he works — it’s where his family is, where his neighbors are, and where he has spent 27 years building something worth protecting.
He chose to build a testing-only company specifically to avoid the conflict of interest that exists when the same person tests and sells remediation services.

The Problem with Combined Companies
When one company both tests for problems and sells the cleanup, there is a financial incentive to find problems — or to make them sound worse than they are. A remediation job can cost $5,000–50,000. A testing report costs much less. The pressure to upsell is built into the business model.
We have seen clients come to us after being told by a remediation company that their home was ‘dangerously contaminated’ — only for our independent test to show levels well within normal range. This happens. It is why we exist.
